Just Dropping In Reeeeaaaalllllyyyy FFFFAAAASSSTTT!!!

Hi Guys!!
I just wanted to drop in really quick to let you know I'm still here!  I've been so busy with all of the donations coming in as donations for the Relay for Life!  All of the fantastic shops I've met on Facebook have been amazingly generous!!!  Stop by and check out all the gorgeous donations that will be auctioned off this year!!!
I've also been working on adding more to my shop, and trying to separate old from new so I've added a "destash" section!!  I've cut prices in there too!!
I'll be doing free shipping all weekend...and so will a lot of other shops!!  My buddy Lisa over at ToldUSo has a blog full of shops that are offering free shipping as well so check them out!!
I'll be making new things for the shop this weekend, digging a garden, and trying to get everything for the Relay organized!  I can't wait to share more pictures with you!!
Have a fantastic weekend!!!
Hugs,
heather

Inspiration....

On one of my last posts, the lovely Helen from Hancox Homestead asked what my inspiration is....on days like today, when it's gloomy out, I question the same thing...
Sometimes, it's a cute little smile...
Sometimes it's the way I see my kids can be totally selfless when it comes to giving to things they love....
It can be a random moment captured in time..that becomes a cherished memory..
Or a memory that you're so happy that got captured....
Every once in a while it's something you look at every day, but see in a different perspective....

It could be a place that I've never been...

Sometimes it's a smell, or the feel of something... I guess I try and get inspiration from everything around me....
What inspires you......

I know it's a day late, but I wanted to share this anyway...

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up.......

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother.....

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't know everything!

14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn't have a clue.

16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she
carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial
mole,

But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she Shows, and
the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Happy Mommy's day and Your Questions Answered!

Happy Mothers day to all you wonderful women!!  Whether it's 2 legged babies or 4 legged babies, moms definitely have a tough job, but when those little eyes look up at you, it's always worth every second!
Those are my beautiful babies...but long before I was mommy to them, I had my first baby....
This beautiful guy, Jordan...I lost him while I was pregnant with my youngest and right after we had moved into our new house.  I was 30, and I'd had him since I was 18...He had a lot of health issues, which included surgery and casts.  I slept on the floor right next to him after that, he truly taught me a lot....
Today, my family took me to the butterfly show at Krohn Conservatory.  My favorite Mothers day "thing to do" :)
and yes they land all over you!

I love going there... I was slightly disappointed, they said there would be cherry blossoms in bloom, and I didn't see them :(
So, that is the first thing you didn't know about me...I love cherry blossoms..in fact, I have them tattooed on my back with my daddy's initials..
The cherry blossom, in Japanese art symbolizes life, the petals falling away symbolize a warrior whose life was cut short...which is how I view my dad..

The second thing you may not know about me, is that in high school, I was a model...very fun, got to meet all kinds of people...but I wouldn't trade how things are now for the world to go back to it.

The third thing (and one of the questions I was asked) is as a kid, I loved bringing random stray animals home...lol, my mom loved it,(not) sometimes domestic, sometimes wild.....didn't matter, if it didn't have a home, it came home with me..

The forth thing is what my day is like...first, you should know if I don't have coffee, first thing...yeah, I'm going back to bed..lol, I have a serious coffee addiction, (I get it from my daddy) then I get kids ready for school...my son leaves, I get the girlies up and one to school, then the youngest and I come home and find out what kind of mischief we can get into!

Fifth thing is...honestly, I'm not a social person at all...I'm a lot better on line than in person.  In person, I'm very shy.

Sixth, I couldn't live without my doggies....they drive me nuts, but I love them.
And last...I was asked, where did the name from my shop came from...it came from this picture...
You can read about it in my very first post...
I want you all to know...this has been a very long post..ddduuhh, and when I first started this blog, I never expected anyone to read it..so thank you my friends!
hugs,
heather

It's A Small (Handmade) World!

Most of you know, because I've talked about it so many times, that I love the Relay for Life.  I try every year to come up with a new and creative way to raise more money to help fight cancer.
Last year I made my first quilt...ever...and it was auctioned off...
It raised an additional $200.00!
So this year when I started racking my brain what are we going to do to raise money, I decided I'd make another quilt, but this year, with a twist...
I sold the quilt squares, and had people give me the names of people they had lost to cancer, or those who had won their battle against this terrible disease...
I have gotten all 20 of the names stitched, and now I'm in the process of adding embellishments and stitching them to the quilt itself..I can't wait to see the final result.
In doing this, I had raised all but $20.00 of my goal of $200.00, and I posted that on facebook.  Then I left and took my daughter to school, not thinking anything of it.

Imagine my surprise when I returned home to see a comment under my post from a wonderful woman named Gail Ainley, that said: Your goal has been met..
I cried.  My hands shook.  I know maybe it sounds silly to a lot of you, but it means a great deal to me that I get to do this to honor my dad, and to know that I hit that goal, was overwhelming.

So as I sat here crying at my computer, I started thinking about a conversation I'd been having earlier that morning with my new friend Heather.  She'd mentioned doing an auction....then the wheels started turning.  All of these wonderful people I've met on Facebook, through my fan page, are all fantasticly creative people.  What if they could donate items to our big auction on the day of the Relay.  I could make a big basket our of all handmade items and proudly present it to be auctioned off!
I posted it....wondering........
as of right now I stand at 42 shops that want to donate...42 shops!!!  From everywhere!!!  The U.S, The U.K. and Australia to date.
So as my title says...It is a small handmade world when everyone comes together in this way.  I sit in awe of all of the caring people that want to help.
And those two people that started the wheels turning...are both people I would have never met if not for the handmade community on Facebook, in fact all 42 of the people that are willing to donate, I wouldn't have ever known...
So ONE MORE TIME...I want to say THANK YOU!!  Your wonderful giving hearts have overwhelmed me.
I can not wait to start sharing with all of you the wonderful items that will be going into our baskets!
I do have one more thing to add.....the lovely Alessandra, over at Just Be Happy, gave me a fantastic award!!
The rules of this award are to list 7 things you probably don't know about me and then to pass it to 7 kreativ bloggers.  I'm going to do both of those things in my next post....so if you're into useless Heather knowledge...stay tuned...lol :)
huge, giant hugs!
